We are currently recruiting a Senior Engineer to join the Test Team within the Technical department at our headquarters in Shoreham-By-Sea.
Over the last 13 years, Cox Powertrain have been on a mission to deliver a revolutionary new concept in ultra-lightweight diesel engines with their market revolutionising CXO300. Since 2007, Cox has successfully raised over £120 million of private investment, to bring the outboard from a dream to a reality. Having begun production in May 2020, the CXO300 is becoming hugely popular in the market and demand is on the rise.
2. JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
2.1 JOB FUNCTION
- Working within the Cox Powertrain test and development department, the Senior Test Engineer will be responsible for the delivery of tests across all our test platforms, world leading outboard dyno test cells, component rig testing, and full outboard testing on vessels. In addition, the Senior Test engineer will be responsible for day to day management of the technicians and operators as well as supporting and mentoring the less experienced Engineers.
2.2 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Overseeing the execution of test procedures in engine dyno cells, full outboard testing and component rig testing.
- Developing test procedures, test cycles, and process documentation.
- Training and mentoring Test Engineers, Technicians and Operators, to improve efficiency and accuracy of results
- Specification and implementation of new tests, instrumentation, rigs, controls and logging equipment to ensure accurate test results to meet stakeholder requirements
- Specification and implementation of test equipment to support dyno and vessel tests at customer/partner locations
- Day to day management of test technicians including scheduling and prioritisation of test activities
- Controlling the prioritisation and scheduling of testing activities to meet development gateways.
- Results analysis and reporting of test results in a formal written report to the wider engineering teams.
- Leading and training of the development of new test methods, and procedure.
- Ensuring and controlling the maintenance and ongoing improvement of test facilities
- Liaise and report to all departments within Cox Powertrain.

4. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
4.1 NECESSARY
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering subject
- Experience of powertrain test set-up and execution
- Experience in an engine test environment, focusing in dyno cells
4.2. ADVANTAGEOUS
- Experience of marine powertrain development activities
- Experience of diesel engine specific development.
- Test cell operation using Sierra CP Engineering CADET test cell control systems.
- Operation of small powered marine craft
