1.0 POSITION SUMMARY

Job Title: Graduate Engineer (Systems)
Employment Status: Permanent
Line Manager: Principal Engineer
Location: Shoreham-by-Sea
Standard Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week between 9:00 am and 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday
Salary: £DOE

We are currently recruiting a Graduate Engineer – Systems to join the Engineering department at our headquarters in Shoreham-By-Sea.

2.0 JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the primary owner of nominated system(s), coordinating activities between: Design, Analysis, Test & Development, Marketing, Purchasing & Manufacturing
  • Assist in the administration of certain engineering processes such as Product Issue tracking, Cost Down etc
  • Work alongside the Purchasing team to work with suppliers and where required nominate new suppliers
  • Be the main technical point of contact for relevant suppliers throughout the lifespan of the product
  • Work alongside relevant stakeholders to capture the commercial, functional and technical requirements for nominated systems
  • Work with Purchasing and Manufacturing team to ensure designed system is practical, sustainable and meets cost targets
  • Work with the Quality team to ensure that designs can be assessed for conformance to drawing
  • Work with Analysis and Test teams to get confirmation that owned systems deliver the required performance

2.1 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive the development of nominated system(s) to meet the defined requirements
  • Maintain good relationships with all stakeholder, external and internal, involved in the development of their system, such as suppliers, customers, regulatory boards etc.
  • Organisation of meetings with relevant stakeholders as appropriate
  • Compilation and update of system requirements and cascading them down to component requirements
  • Updating standard company systems tracking documentation and delivering status updates to colleagues
  • Ensure system design is agreed with Purchasing and Manufacturing teams as being practical for long term production requirements

  • Critically assess work of suppliers, both internal and external, for quality and correctness
  • Complete administration tasks for engineering processes such as minuting meetings, organising attendance etc.

4.0 SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

4.1 NECESSARY

  • Masters level degree in an Engineering/Science/Mathematical discipline
  • Some demonstrable analytical skills developed during their university career

4.2 ADVANTAGEOUS

  • A working knowledge of internal combustion engines and watercraft
  • Practical work experience in an engineering environment
