Where will my service take place?
Once your service appointment is confirmed, your local Cox Representative will be in touch to advise you on where your vessel needs to go for the service to be carried out.

How can I find out when my service is due?
To find out when your service is due, please contact your local Cox Representative. You may be asked for your engine running hours, which can be found on the Cox graphic display screen on your helm station.

How long does a service take?
The length of your service is dependent on the service interval and any additional work required. It is best to contact your local Cox Representative to determine how long your service will take to complete.

What happens during the service?
Our maintenance schedule details exactly what happens on each service. You can obtain a copy of this from your local Cox Representative.

Once your service is complete, you will receive a service report via email.

If your service is overdue, we strongly recommend you contact your local Cox Representative as soon as you can to get a service booked in.
It is important you adhere to the service schedule to ensure your outboard runs as smoothly as it should, and no implications are made to your standard warranty terms.

No, all our demonstrations are free. However, we do ask that you always book your demonstration in advance.

Is The V8 compliant with Emission standards?
The V8 has been put through a variety of intensive testing to meet emissions requirements and has achieved certification approval for EPA Tier 3, IMO Tier II and EU RCD II and Bodensee (BSO).

How much does The V8 weigh?

What kind of diesel is required to run The V8?
The V8 has been validated and certified using diesel fuels complying with fuel standards EN 590 and ASTM D975 No.2-D. Operating fuels with properties outside of these standards may lead to unacceptable emissions levels, increased fuel consumption, accelerated outboard wear and outboard damage, which may invalidate your warranty.

What oil can be used to run The V8?
For the Powerhead, we recommend using Shell Rotella T6 5W40 engine oil and Shell Rimula. The powerhead oil must be fully synthetic and comply to minimum Pl service classification of CI-4. – Min standard – fully synthetic API CI-4 / SAE 10W40 or 5W40.
For the transmission- we recommend using Shell Spirax S3 AX gear oil. The transmission oil must comply with the SAE 80W90 viscosity standard and API service classification GL-5. Please contact your local dealer for further oil specification. -
What is the warranty of The V8?
Cox Marine offer a market leading warranty for The V8.
For our recreational customers, The V8 comes with a standard warranty of 1500hrs of use /5 years (whichever comes first).
For our commercial customers, The V8 comes with a standard warranty of 1000hrs of use / 12 months (whichever comes first).
Commercial customers located in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Singapore and Japan are eligible for an enhanced warranty of 1500hrs of use / 18 months (whichever comes first).
The warranty for Cox Marine products is subject to terms and conditions and exclusions, set out in The V8 Standard Warranty Policy.

What vessels are compatible with The V8?
The V8 outboard is compatible with a variety of different vessels. For further information on compatibility, we recommend you contact your local Cox Representative.

What variations is The V8 available in?
As standard, The V8 comes in a black carbon fibre cowling, however we do offer the option of white carbon fibre cowling also.
We offer a range of leg lengths from 25″, 30″ and 35″, along with a 1.46:1 gearbox ratios. Please contact your local Cox Representative for further information.

Is the steering compatible with all standard consoles?
We recommend using the Dometic Optimus EPS system which has been specifically validated by Cox Powertrain for The V8. However, The V8 has been designed to also be compatible with other existing industry standards. Your local Cox Representative will be able to advise you further.

What ignition system does The V8 use?
The V8 operates with a keyless FOB ignition from CoastKey. Please contact your Cox Representative for further information on how this system works.
